The person of the holy spirit

John 7:39 (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given ; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.
Jesus promised his followers that the holy spirit would soon come to be in them not just with them. Now too often simplistic views of the holy spirits role in the old testament limit our view of his role in our daily life. Though his role changes with the new testament the holy spirit must be understood as equal with the father and the son. Jesus says of him that he would go to the father and ask him to send another comforter. The words “another comforter” speak to the fact that Christ, the one and only, the person of all persons, would send another person to replace himself in ministry. This person not only would comfort, he would indwell the believers. The depths of the comforting role of the holy spirit becomes overshadowed to many by the miraculous. Miracles are only one facet of his role in the new testament. Yet so many only see him through those eyes. He not only comforts but he stands as an advocate for us. He goes to bat for believers during attacks by Satan, suffering, sorrow, and the struggle in warfare praying.(Romans 8). He indwells, comforts, interprets our prayers to the fathers, seals us, fights for us, speaks to us, reminds us of truth, secures our sonship, feeds us, fills us, equips us,  separates us, gives victory, shields us, and that is just the beginning of his ministry to us as believers. Are you in need, do u have sorrow, painful prayers that u cannot say to God, attacks by the devil, false accusations by the world, areas of spiritual bondage, need Gods reminders of truth, doubting your sonship, go to God and in the person and presence of his indwelling and through the word may you find fulfillment.
