A word of encouragement from a sojourner for Truth

Sacrifice

Heb 12:4
4 In this all- out match against sin, others have suffered far worse than you, to say nothing of what Jesus went through– all that bloodshed! Message

I have not sacrificed
The Hebrew Christians wanted to defect. They feared reprisals from their people who were not saved. They too had not grown in faith they way they should. The writer challenged them to grow to eat meat n get off the spiritual milk. He also warned them they had not resisted with bloodshed. Fear is often over exaggerated in our imaginations. Too often we need to quit looking at wat discourages us n look to what encourages us. I am reminded of the great missionary to Africa.
“For my own part, I have never ceased to rejoice that God has appointed me to such an office. People talk of the sacrifice I have made in spending so much of my life in Africa. Is that a sacrifice which brings its own blest reward in healthful activity, the consciousness of doing good, peace of mind, and a bright hope of a glorious destiny hereafter? Away with the word sacrifice. Say rather it is a privilege. Anxiety, sickness, suffering, or danger, now and then, with a foregoing of the common conveniences and charities of this life, may make us pause, and cause the spirit to waver, and the soul to sink; but let this only be for a moment. All these are nothing when compared with the glory which shall be revealed in and for us. I never made a sacrifice. We ought not to talk of sacrifice when we remember the great sacrifice that he made who left his Father’s throne on high to give himself for us.” David Livingstone
