U r in my prayers. May the angels catch u when u fall. May his mercy surround ur
. May his joy fill ur cup to overflowing. N may his presence envelop u with his unimaginable peace. He loves
. N I love u dearest friend. For this cause I pray grace in ur life this day n each moment ur name crosses my heart.
Matthew 20:22 But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with They say unto him, We are able.
A cup of obedience
Just think. The cup Jesus spoke of is the cup of obedience requiring his death. His cup of Gods wrath poured out required his willful death upon the cross of
. This death,
n shed blood resulted in his atonement to God for
sin. It is the ultimate humility. Do u see his willing humble death brought life to us who believe? Symbolically we are called to die to ourselves. The personal n public willful
of believers brings life to others. We humble ourselves in this way when we deny ourselves to witness, be meek, love our enemies, confess our sin or any other willful self denial. It is the cup of
. It is when we truly say n do; not my will but thine be done. Go n drink his cup n bring life. He is our example of obedience.
The battle is the Lord’s
II Chronicles 20:15 And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the LORD unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God ‘s. 20:17 Ye shall not need to fight in this battle : set yourselves, stand ye still , and see the salvation of the LORD with you,.. 20:21 ….he appointed singers unto the LORD, and that should praise the beauty of holiness…. 20:22 And when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten.
Things were grim. Armies stood their ground. Battle flags flapped in the wind. The kings of three nations stood arrayed over against Judah. Amon, mt seir, and moab readied themselves to take Judah. Have u ever seemed outnumbered n overwhelmed by the enemy? Jehoshaphat did. He knew some of the most evil nations known to man were gathered at his doorstep. His solution happened to be what we need today. Our best plus our great God always means success. He is our refuge, our ready help in times of trouble. He is our strong defense n our fortress. Jehoshaphat led his people in worship. Sing when its hard. Dance in his spirit n strength when ur weak. Notice the victory did not come from their prowess but their praise. When they praised God, n not before, God set his ambush against the enemy. Sing at midnight. Praise him in the hard stuff n be victorious.
Hebrews 11:8 By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went. 11:10 For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God.
Notice when sarai followed Abram she did not know: the why they were leaving except God commanded, the where they were going, the when they would arrive, the how they would survive. She only knew what Abram knew. They knew the whom they trusted. Likewise we often know so little of the who, what, where n when and all we can do is trust in the God who is leading us. We can anchor ourselves that if he has supplied in the past he will supply in the future. If he has led faithfully with our best interest in the past the same will be true un the future. Let us not stagger at the promises of God. Let us move with the dillegence n perseverence of Abram n sarai. Let’s live looking for a city built by God.
Jesus said in john 14:1. U trust God…Trust also in me.
We need God. He reveals enough so we can rationally logically approach truth. However he leaves out enough so we must exercise faith. R u worried abt the future? Or burdened by ur past. Like eternity without the boundaries in space n time as we know it now we have no reference point to hang our coat. The past is done n forgiven. The future has not happened yet. God takes a position of authority. Like a good parent He says simply trust me. If he can save me from myself n my sin he can take care of my future. So today I encourage u to trust him past, present, n future. Leave it all in his hands.
Exodus 15:20 And Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a timbrel in her hand; and all the women went out after her with timbrels and with dances. 15:21 And Miriam answered them, Sing ye to the LORD, for he hath triumphed gloriously; the horse and his rider hath he thrown into the sea.
Ever feel inadequate? I am a son, a brother, husband, father, mentor, disciple, pastor, friend, associate, trustee, committee member, missions chairman, child of God, and sometimes I feel a bit inadequate. Ever feel overwhelmed? I study for my personal quiet time, do daily devotionals, preach n teach between 170 n 200 times a year, I counsel weekly n try to answer ever prayer request from friends, family n church. I am not tooting my own horn, but I am saying everybody has a lot in their plate. Inadequacy n being overwhelmed happen to us all. Moms have it even more. Often the rearing of the kids, paying bills, cleaning house has been turned over to them. We forget marriage n family is a partnership. Team effort must not be underrated. Moses had a prominent role in leading Israel to victory. Miriam had her role too. Ever been nervous to lead in a lesson or sing in front of people? Do u have faith to lead 10000 plus in worship? Miriam did just that. Pray for the leaders in ur life. Pray for ur moms biological n spiritual. Pray for the single moms n dads in ur life. Thank u lord for entrusting me w my responsibilities. Keep me from the fear of inadequacy n from becoming too overwhelmed.
Luke 18:15 And they brought unto him also infants, that he would touch them: but when his disciples saw it, they rebuked them. 18:16 But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God
How much r u like Jesus? Examine yourself. Take a spiritual test. Jesus was known as a friend of sinners. He would take his ministry to the masses. He went where the people gathered. He stopped a funeral, went to synagogue, went to a well. When teaching the disciples abt ministry he likened it to fishing. He launched our into the deep where the fish schooled. How much r u like Jesus? He recieved people others rejected. He recieved, adulterers, theives, extortioners, murderers, lepers, and children. Just take one example as ur test. Do children get in your nerves? Are u impatient with them? Jesus took them in the midst when his disciples rejected them. He took time for young people. No matter what age or role we have in life, we can exemplify Jesus. We can recieve sinners, children, n have compassionate patience.
