A word of encouragement from a sojourner for Truth

The importance of quietness.

“I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me… My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand.” -JOHN 10:14, 27–28

How busy is your life? Hustle n bustle tends to dampen our ability to hear his voice. When the sheep are all penned up in the cave all kinds of shepherds come to the door calling sheep. The false shepherds of the world call out but we must learn to know his voice n hear when he calls us by name. Sheep learn to sense the presence n movement of their shepherd so well that as his shadow passes over the mouth of the cave they perk up their ears ne eyes attentive to the great shepherds voice. We can learn to be sensitive to his voice. It begins in the quietness of our lives.
Take time to be quiet n listen for the voice of God. Then as u learn to distinguish his voice thru his word n his spirit u can learn to carry that quietness around with u inspire of the bustle of life around u. And in that innermost quietness of ur soul he will speak n u will hear no matter the storms that rage around u. Spend some time in the classroom of purposeful quietness so u may learn to anticipate n sense the move of his shadow across ur life. Know him so well that when he speaks u can distinguish his voice from all the false shepherds in the world.

Amo 3:3 Can two walk together, except they be agreed?

How is your walk with God? Too many people today say they walk with God but do not walk with him in reality. If you walk with God you must be walking in agreement with him and his word. You cannot walk with God if your life Is steeped in sin. If you regard sin in your heart you r not walking with God in agreement. If you do not honor your wife you are not walking in tune with God. If you cover your sin you r not walking with God in agreement w Him. If you disregard his church that he died for you are not walking in step with Him. If you do not love the lost, witness, read his word, serve your fellow man, or walk in any fashion out of step with the word of God, you do not walk in tandem with Jesus. Fellowship requires agreement. If your life is in disagreement with the word of God then you are out of sync with his spirit. Thus you cannot be in agreement with him. To be in agreement with him is to be in a humble, contrite spirit. It means that you have the same feelings that he has about sin, suffering, service and sinners. It means you agree with God on what you are doing and need to be doing. It means walking in a contrite, confessed state. Too often we say we are right with him and hear his voice when in truth we are liars and do not the truth. We say we have fellowship with him but walk in darkness. Listen, your only hope and freedom from the bondages of sin comes in the repentance of sin. Openly agreeing with God what is wrong in your life and taking the steps necessary to be changed by him only will find the resolution you desire. Do you want to be free? Confess, repent, and replace your life with the new life from Christ.

Speaking life

John 7:37 In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink   7:38 He that believeth on me, as the Scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water 7:39…..by this he meant the Spirit….

God wants to flow thru u. When u were saved he placed his spirit within u. He wants to lead u, fill u, surround u, protect u, and provide for u. However the living water that nourishes ur soul is not just for u alone. When u talk w people learn to listen w the holy spirit. Yield to his leading n speak within his will n Gods word. It will not only feed ur soul but it will spring up like living water flowing from u to those who need more of him. This is not only true in witnessing but also ministry. If u try to give them only ur opinion wo the leadership of the spirit then u give them only empty foolish wisdom. In him is life. Only his words r living. Everything else is dead.

Journeying w Him

Psalms 32:8 I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.

The psalmist knew God as savior,

, friend n refuge from trouble. Such

of God, relationship w God, n fellowship w him

fills our lives when we have need for these

truths. Yet we struggle, worry, fear in our daily trials n often r defeated. It’s almost like we say w our life; I can trust u for the big things I cannot accomplish by myself but not for the mundane or simple decisions of life. God knows our weaknesses n our appetite for independence. However he says wo him we can do nothing. He is the give we r the branch. Without vital, constant, connection to him we r lifeless. He promises to keep n eye on our path. He promises to teach us, n guide us, in the way we should go. Our problem then becomes a matter of trust. If I can trust him for the impossible I can trust him for the possible. If I can trust him for my eternity I can trust him in every decision I make. Don’t take a step, decide, or make a move wo consulting him first. Then w his instruction from the word, leading of the spirit, take ur journey wo fear or defeat. Everything God blessed is a success.

(Psalms 23:2) He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

As you go throughout your day find moments that you can lie down in green pastures. Take a moment and pray and give it all to God. God has not called us for our abilities because that would mean we deserve his call. He has called us for our weaknesses which develop within us our awareness of our need for him. We sometimes misquote this verse by trying to make it fit at the hospital during a time of surgery or at home during a time of illness. Surgery or illness are not green pastures or still waters. Green pastures depict a place of provision, protection and peace. The still waters depict a running stream where the shepherd builds a side pool rocked in to dam up some water. This water is still and calm which is what the sheep desire. Sheep are naturally afraid of running water and will not drink from the water unless it is calm and still. Such a picture depicts a time not when trial or testing puts us down; there are plenty of passages to show those lessons. This however depicts, a time when a loving thoughtful shepherd takes time to find a place of provision and rest for his sheep to graze safely upon his bountiful blessings. This oasis as depicted in scripture is a place to unwind. In our electronic age of being on call 24/7 and isolated from real conversations and relationships let us take these moments God gives us throughout the day as a chance to unwind and turn loose of it all and rest in his oasis.Rest in faith. Know all happens for a purpose and with his knowledge. Nothing surprises him. He is aware and will be with you through all u have to do today. Trust him he does not fail nor does he allow things to happen that he will not supply your needs

His wonderful name

Genesis 16:13 And she called the name of the LORD that spoke unto her, Thou God seest me: for she said, Have I also here looked after him that seeth me?  16:14 Wherefore the well was called Beer -lahai-roi; behold, it is between Kadesh and Bered.

Sometimes we forget the

of the name of God. Here in the fear n flight of

from Sarah her mistress God meets w her n reminds her that he watches over his children. She speaks of Gods name as the one who sees me. Another time when

is born she calls upon the name of God who hears me. Abram learns the name of God who provides, jehovah jireh. God is named

, God w us n Jesus means he is salvation. Today do not let the repetitive nature of life cause u to forget eye great value that God sees, hears, provides n saves. Let ur mind dwell on the manifold nature n character of his name. Claim them n hope in him. Do not let anything bring ur heart away from the security u have in the shepherd of ur soul. When ur mind strays due to sorrow, suffering or sin flee back to his side n let his reassuring voice remind u who he is n whose u r.

Nothing between

The Lord replied, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” -EXODUS 33:14

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable… think about such things… -PHILIPPIANS 4:8

Today rest in the presence of God. Know that there is nothing between u and him. He knows u. He formed u in the womb n fashioned every part of u. Nothing is hidden from his sight. U r fearfully n wonderfully made. U r his thru n thru. By virtue of creation n virtue of redemption u r his. One of the greatest chasms created in the fall comes as the facades n false walls we build between us n God. We used to sing a song when I was little. Nothing between. Written by the son of slaves a janitor turned pastor, Charles Tindley; he knew seperation. He lost his mother at 4 n seperated from his father by his teens; he taught himself to read by 17. As a pastor he returned to shepherd the church where he had been a janitor. Here while going thru great trial he wrote the hymn.

Stanza 1: Nothing between my soul and the Savior, Naught of this world’s delusive dream. I have renounced all sinful pleasure; Jesus is mine–there’s nothing between.”

Stanza 2 “Nothing between like worldly pleasure. Habits of life, though harmless they seem, Must not my heart from Him ever sever; He is my all–there’s nothing between.”

Stanza 3  “Nothing between like pride or station; Self or friends shall not intervene. Though it may cost me much tribulation, I am resolved–there’s nothing between.”

Stanza 4 “Nothing between, e’en many hard trials, Though the whole world against me convene; Watching with prayer and much self-denial, I’ll triumph at last–there’s nothing between.”

Chorus: “Nothing between my soul and the Savior, So that His blessed face may be seen; Nothing preventing the least of His favor, Keep the way clear–there’s nothing between.”

Today bask in his strength n presence during ur trials. Know u have no other relationship like this one. Feel the relief from being totally authentic n transparent before God. Know his tenderness as he holds u; u have nothing to hide.Relax, and feel relief flowing over u. You have nothing to hide or disclose. Thru the gift of confession you experience the “nothing between.”
