No one lives to himself

The surest Path to the future lies on the footsteps of the past. Charles Darden.

Psalms 37:23 The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.

We stand on the shoulders of great people. Some are prominent in our memory others have tread softly in our heritage. They all However have influenced our present. Today you should take time to: Thank God for your multifaceted history of people to whom you owe your life, giftings, and Spiritual standing. Then if they are still with you; you should take time to thank them personally. After looking back with a thankful heart take a look around u n then look to the future. For just as they mentored, influenced,  and laid foundation stones in your life; You owe those before you and these who shall come after you the same honor. The journey is not done. No One lives to himself.

A prayer

Today I pray ur heart is filled w the presence of God. May his spirit keep ur thot n words. May ur children know his presence, provision, n protection. Any discouragement that may be sent by the adversary find that it serves as a reminder to praise Jesus, call on him, n commune w him. May u find an oasis of tribune proportions. May wonderful surprises, God prints of evidence, God winks as assurance from across the room, be sprinkled across ur day. N may laughter bubble out of ur spirit, smiles crease ur eyes n lips always. U r lived n prayed for daily.

First responders attitude

Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. -2 CORINTHIANS 4:16–18

Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim you, who walk in the light of your presence, O LORD. -PSALM 89:15

First Responders Attitude
Its not a matter  of if but when trials come. All men face trials. Understanding this truth enables u to begin to find victory in the midst of trial. I encourage u to think about how u respond to trial. The difference between reacting n responding becomes crucial to that success. When u react u r left to the whim of ur emotionally charged thinking at the moment. U either react by turning ur face towards me in prayer or u run away from my presence n help. However to respond to a situation means u have had forethought n planning before the event. When there is a natural disaster those who come to help u r called first responders. I want u to cultivate that attitude in dealing w trial. In dealing w trouble in ur life I can take it out of ur path, take u around or over the trial or I can walk w u thru the trial. If we avoid the trial u must be able to hear my voice n follow me over or around the trial. If we pass thru the trial u must also be very near to me. just as first responders have to keep in communication w the homebase so shouldn’t u. Thus the first n foremost thing u can do in developing a first responders attitude is to cultivate a deep n abiding relationship w me. That comes only thru a daily quiet time n communion w me thru the word n prayer. Secondly to develop a first responders attitude u must have an action plan for recovery. This is necessary to have so u can share it with others. U will gain n be able to develop action plans by taking records of our journey together. This might include how I speak to u, n work w u thru ur trial. Journal notes down, re. of requests n answers to prayers while u r going thru this fire. Embrace ur trial by fire. Learn to hear me intimately thru ur experience. Know this n trust me that I am lovingly guiding, growing n giving grace in ur life as u need it. Then as u have received of me so give of urselves to others so they may find help too. Let me create in u this first responders attitude. ur trial is not just for u but it is so u might help others find the victory.

Encouragement

Isa 50:4-5
4 The Master, GOD, has given me
a well- taught tongue, So I know how to encourage tired people. He wakes me up in the morning,
Wakes me up, opens my ears
to listen as one ready to take orders. 5 The Master, GOD, opened my ears, and I didn’t go back to sleep, didn’t pull the covers back over my head.

Encouragement
Encouragement strikes ne as one of the most neglected spiritual gifts. Strife, brokeness. Physical n spiritual hurts fill the world n each n every family. Jesus told his disciples they would be known as his disciples because they loved each other. Jesus further taught the great commandment as love God with all you r n love yr neighbor as urself. Paul emphasized love in Corinthians 13 n Romans he taught that it is the fulfilling of the law. John teaches that we r to love as we have been loved by God. Maybe instead of griping u need to touch someone eases life w love n encouragement. Maybe when someone cuts u off in traffic think not of their apparent idiocy but think they might be in a hurry to a doctors office, or on their way home to get someone to the hospital. We often hear folks ask the question “where’s the fire?” Just know that sometimes there is a fire. We should be the kind of friend we would want others to be for us if the shoe was on the other foot. Speak truth in love. Critisize thru the gifts of the Spirit. We should be the kind of dad, mom, husband or wife, son or daughter we desire others to be. Be an example of leadership n love. Practice encouragement. Cuz the next time u might be the tired person n they might be ur encourager.

What We Need today

I Samuel 3:19 And Samuel grew, and the LORD was with him, and did let none of his words fall to the ground.

What we need today
In Samuel’s day God had given no open vision. Physically Eli’s blindness symbolically represented the spiritual drought in the land. Yet some were open to the voice of the Lord. Samuel as a young boy heard the voice of God. Today we  need more Samuels. Young  People God is calling you. will You answer the call?  We need older  people like Simeon and Anna who heard Gods voice in their 80’s. Life too often gets caught up in busyness or is cumbered by recreation. There is nothing wrong with being busy or recreation. However when anything supplants the voice of God and the work;  its plainly wrong. Two things of import can gleaned from this passage and in Samuel’s life. First the Lord was with Samuel. That does not mean that God was on Samuels side but that Samuel humbly walked with God. As a result Samuel did not fail as a prophet of truth. His word did not fail. Samuel was not afraid to speak against King Saul spiritually and politically. Today we need people who walk w ith God and are not afraid to speak out . Politically and Spiritually America needs Samuels who listen to Gods voice. We need people to speak the truth Politically and Spiritually. Will you be a Samuel? will you speak Truth ?

God judges

I Samuel 2:12 Now the sons of Eli were sons of Belial; they knew not the LORD.  2:17 Wherefore the sin of the young men was very great before the LORD: for men abhorred the offering of the LORD.  2:22 Now Eli was very old, and heard all that his sons did unto all Israel; and how they lay with the women that assembled at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.
Ecclesiastes 12:1 Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them;

God judges
The corruption in eli’s day found its horrible depth in his sons. They were ministers of the Lords people. Yet they hated the offering of the Lord. They corrupted the people, fornicated with women of the sanctuary. These men corrupted the sacrifice n corrupted the people. Corrupt Christians bring corruption on the house of God, his church n the purity of true worship is lost. Priests n preachers, leaders of spiritual organizations, leaders n icons of our age have thru their own corruption corrupted all around them. Just as adding fresh apples to a barrel with one bad Apple the whole is not made better but worse. One bad apple spoils the bunch. God desires men be priests of their homes. Ur first mission field is ur family. God expects his leaders, fathers n mothers alike to take their role as parents as a sacred calling. We r not at liberty to blow off our responsibility. Children are a gift from God. Neither should the men n women of the house of God shirk their great calling. The ministry we have from God is a sacred honor. We should not defile it with our appetites that are out of control n not in subjection to God. The priest wore a head piece which had inscribed “the beauty of holiness unto the Lord” Eli’s sons died under the wrath of God. God warned El that because he would not reprimand his sons that none of his posterity would grow old. Eli when he heard the news of the death of his sons died of a broken heart. The only good he did was to rear Samuel the son of Hannah n Elkanah right. He instructed him to seek the Lord n to answer him when he called. However his own family was a tragedy because he was not the priest of his home, nor a good father to his children. Go n do not make the mistake of Eli. Go n don’t be foolish compromising ur testimony on the altar of a few laughs or the coals of ur lust. Remember the Lord in the days of ur youth. Serve Him n avoid His wrath.

I am calling u

I Samuel 3:3 And ere the lamp of God went out in the temple of the LORD, where the ark of God was , and Samuel was laid down to sleep ;  3:4 That the LORD called Samuel: and he answered, Here am I.

The voice of God
I call to u with the yearning heart. I long for u. I called Samuel when there was no vision in the land. I called him when the religious leaders in many places were corrupt. I called him as a young man. I call u from where u r. I call u at night when the cares of the day r slipping away. I call u to holiness. I call u to living for me. I call u in a mothers prayer, a preachers message. I call u thru song, n nature, thru my heavens n my earth. I call u but u must hear me. In order to hear me u need to have time w me, where the noise of ur day quiet. U need to learn to hear the nuances of my voice. U have to allow ur heart to be moldable, moveable, n plyable in my hands. U have to cultivate faith in me for things u think r impossible. I love u n my heart is for ur best. Listen to my voice, heed my word, n obey my call. Believe in me. Believe I will do great things thru u.
