17 Deal bountifully with thy servant, that I may live,
and keep thy word.
18 Open thou mine eyes,
that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.
A sure sign of aging
As we age our hearing, eyesight n other senses begin to weaken. When our eyesight begins to go it affects all of our other senses. We need to watch our spiritual eyes tho. Cuz even tho the outward man may perish we can continue to grow in strength inwardly n spiritually.
16 For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.
Therefore utilize the word of God. It is a light to our feet n path. It shows who we r n where we r n which direction we r heading. It guides, directs, instructs, rebukes, encourages, defends, overcomes, empowers, beings, faith, life n hope. Get w the book. Get it open. Read it aloud. Pray for open eyes, open heart, n ready hands for obedience.
16 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;
Follow, follow, I will follow Jesus
16 And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them.
Will u follow? Anywhere? Everywhere? Too often we follow w conditions. Jacob said he would follow God if he blessed him. N then if he blessed him then Jacob promised a tithe. I remember the story of a man who was flying. They hit turbulence. He did not believe in God but cried out just in case. He promised if he could land safe he would give God one tenth of his millions of dollars. Just so happened a priest was seated behind him. When they landed, the priest walked up to him n said, I’m here to collect on ur promise to God. The man said if God ever catches me in a plane he can have it all. That is usually how we r w God. We only want him when we need him. What about following When u cannot see ur way? We often complain or demand he make it clear. God wants us to trust him so much we will follow anyway. If its dark trust him. He is the one who spoke the universe into existence. He spoke n light came into being. He too, us the one who never leaves us. Friends, family, game, fortune may all fail us but God will never fail us. Trust him. Follow him. Anywhere. Everywhere. Always.
11 Why died I not from the womb?
why did I not give up the ghost when I came out of the belly?
4 I looked on my right hand, and beheld, but there was no man that would know me: refuge failed me; no man cared for my soul.
Job n David experienced much in life that could defeat them. Job lost his family, fortune, fitness n friends but not his faith. Tho he kept his integrity he did experience depression to the extent he wished his life had never been in the first place. David, when under the distress of not hearing from God, n unable to find a friend who would stand up for him, found that even his path back to God seemed booby trapped by his enemies. Ultimately like job he did not kidd his faith. Yet his despair reached the level where he felt as if no one cared for his soul. These kinds of despair m depression often come thru circumstances tho sometimes they slip up on u unawares. From a person’s reaction, harsh words, pain, failure, past memories all can trouble our spirits to this degree. Stress unexpected loss, repeated trial without any repenting can break even the best of people. Foolishly there has been an attitude from many believers that children of God never have depression, despair or defeat. Sometimes these trials can be dealt w by simply faith however they can be the sign of medical issues as well. N as for believers never experiencing such trials the greatest people of faith n history have experienced these problems. Paul, job, David, peter, john the Baptist, elijah, esther n Moses all struggled with these problems. So u may have experiences that hit u m drive u to such words as David n job. It may slip upon u or grate upon u for a long time. Keep ur faith. God never forsakes. Take medical n spiritual precaution. N survive the experience n be like job, David n those others. Be an inspiration n influence to those around u who face the same.
17 No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper;
and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord,
and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord.
God promises his children that in his divine providence all things that come against his children will not prosper. If they in fact come against his children it must come thru him n across his table. That can be understood as his perfect causitive will n his permissive will. He either causes trials, sends punishment or he allows the enemy to test us. Now tho we may not blame him for evil we can understand that both good n evil work out for the ultimate good for his children. (ROM. 8:28) In context here it is the abrahamic covenant for the children of israel. For us he promises hot tongues n heated blades (representing all forms of antagonism) cannot ultimately destroy his children. Those w caustic tongues who speak lies n evil against us will one day be destroyed. Those who attack us even physically; these evils cannot happen apart from God himself allowance. Ultimately the vindication of his children will be their heritage. He who makes the destroyer, brings judgement, tests n tries people will defend his elect children n turn his wrath against those who use, abuse, harm, lie about, and hatefully speak against his people. God be praised for his righteous vindication. Just as w rewards theres payday someday. There’s a judgement payday in this life n the life to come for evildoers.
10 For the mountains shall depart,
and the hills be removed; but my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, saith the Lord that hath mercy on thee.
When life goes well we have to guard against forgetting God, prayer time n bible study. When times r tough we must guard against being angry w God. So often we praise him in the flush of victory yet only in a short time trouble may come n we forget him. Prosperity can dissolve our resolve n break the strength of a seasoned soldier. To keep from getting soft spiritually we must practice daily excersize. The great news for us is several fold. First God is not fickle as we r in our promises. Second God is only a prayer away. He keeps his promises. He who kept his mercy w us will keep us, protect n even provide for us when the mountains are removed. Just because our world may fall apart, our stability be shaken n removed. He is stable. He will not be removed. U can trust him. Let’s not forget him.
1 And it came to pass, when he had made an end of speaking unto Saul, that the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul.
I call u friend because our lives have crossed so often that we r familiar to each other. I call u friend because in times of sorrow, pain n trial u have been there to encourage me, pray for me n lift me up. I call u friend because when at times I needed a listening ear u gave by listening when u could have gone n done other things. I call u friend because I have shared ur sorrows, joys n listened when I could have done other things. I call u family because I love u n would die for u. U r knit to my soul. U r part of my joy n my happiness. I call u family whether by blood, by chance or by design. I call u family because u give me hope, u give me joy, u help me when I am down.
Romans 15:13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope
God can be our help, refuge n strength. What dreams by him r given the same is God driven. That means the calling of God will always be undergirded by his strength. U must know ur own weakness before u can experience the strength of God. Paul knew that in his own personal weakness he would find the strength of God. It is a matter of exchange. Ur weakness is exchanged for his strength. How do ewe do this exchange? We do it thru humility n yielding. As Christians we need to surrender to the strength that God provides and His strength is made perfect in our weakness. As you read through these scripture quotes about strength be encouraged in that it is not your strength that is needed but the strength that God willingly supplies. Like a refreshing wind on a sweltering day, a cool drink to a parched throat so is the knowlege n experience of the strength of God. Let Him have the glory and show himself strong. 2Chronicles 16:9 For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him….” God wants to show Himself strong on your behalf. Surrender to Him today and let the peace that He gives you take over. We cannot fully serve God without full surrender to his Strength.
Isaiah 41:10 fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand
Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through him who strengthens me.
Psalm 18:32-34 the God who equipped me with strength and made my way blameless….
