For those who think not going to church is that important or you’ve lost your confidence in it…. Note Jesus went to church. He even could have said I don’t need to go. He could have said they are hypocritical and ignorant of God’s whole word. He could have said I’m smarter than the are, I don’t need instruction…. But check out
16 And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up:and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.
He went regularly and he participated in corporate worship, bible study. You should too.
Mercy without delay!
34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.
Do you feel condemned or defeated at the moment? Maybe you feel as if the whole world is against you. Even the heavens seem as brass when you pray. Be of good cheer Christ the risen has the right to condemn you but if you throw yourself upon his mercies you will find he forgives you. He also stands up for you when the world condemns. He speaks up and represents your case when the accuser brings charges. You have access and immediacy to your intercessor. He does not forget you or lose your case. You are his and He is yours. Mercy can be yours without delay. Just cry out. He will hear and help you in your day of trouble.
6 In my distress I called upon the Lord;
to my God I cried for help.
From his temple he heard my voice,
and my cry to him reached his ears.
7 Then the earth reeled and rocked;
the foundations also of the mountains trembled and quaked, because he was angry. (ESV)
In the earlier verses David expressed his faith in God’s faithfulness and his defense of his children. In 6,7 and on in the poem here cries out to his God from the depths of struggle. As if he were caught in a dry Gulch suddenly filled with the sudden rain he is ensnared by the wall of water rushing towards him. Death has bound him as a spectral enemy; he has been thrashed about and beaten by his enemies. He walks thru a field of snares and hidden traps. He cries out in terror against a foe of immense dark intensity. Yet away in His temple God hears and comes against those ungodly enemies. Roaring and thundering from the heavens God answers in his anger against the evils coming against his child. With great dramatic description David elucidates the awesome fearful power of the living God. None indeed, can stand against his might. Such is the hope of all God’s children. We do not trust in faith but in the our God who is faithful. We do not trust in a hope so kinda, once and a while, only weekend working God. Our Father is aware of our infirmities. He does not sleep or go on vacations. He is never out to lunch nor is his prayer line ever busy. He indeed is our strength, our supply, our source. No enemy nor evil can stand in his wake. When we cry out to him, he hears, he answers in power and great might.
The I Am
7 Hear, O Lord, when I cry aloud;
be gracious to me and answer me!
8 You have said, “Seek my face.”
My heart says to you,
“Your face, Lord, do I seek.”
My child you cry out with your voice when you need me but I have already known your needs. I created you and laid out your intricate design before you were born. I knew your life before your lungs drew in breath. My plans for you are life and hope and restoration into my fellowship. In your past I am the great ever present all knowing God. I hold your future in my hands because I am already there as the I am of eternity. In your day of trouble I am the I am that never forsakes you. I own the cattle on a thousand hills and the whole universe is mine. I knew your request be forever you asked it of me. I have your supply and you will find it with me. Seek me with all that you are, I will satisfy your heart. Nothing the world gives is able to satisfy. I am the satisfaction you desire. Seek me early and find me ready to fill your greatest fears with joy and hope. My grace sufficiently meets the point of your need. I am lion tamer, mountain shaper, star flinger. I call the wind from its cleft to carry rain, storm and snow upon my lands. The earth faints from drought and I satisfy the parched earth with refreshing rain. There is none greater than me and I hold your life in my hands. I am the God who hears, sustains and supplies. There is no exhausting of my supply or strength. Seek me I am the source of what you need. I spoke light into darkness and breathed life into clay. So seek me. Cry out to me. Find that I, who have always been and always will be, am there. I am there right with you and no news, or enemy can shake me. I am that great I am. I hear you and I answer you. I am here with you now.
